Silicone Foam

Non-flammable foam that absorbs cell swelling and blocks thermal propagation.

Overview

What it is

Silicone foam is the battery's shock absorber and firewall in one. It cushions the contraction and expansion of cells during charge and discharge, while its self-extinguishing structure prevents heat from one cell igniting the next. The TF/TP/TH series covers ultra-soft cushioning through firm cellular grades for top covers, compression pads and end plates.

Key characteristics

  • Self-extinguishing, non-flammable — UL94 V0
  • Compression Force Deflection from 1 to 27 PSI (25% deflection)
  • Compression set below 5% (22 hr at 100°C) on most grades
  • Replaces the MICA + PU-foam stack with a single bonded material
